1. Arrival at the Flores airport from Guatemala City or Cancun. We start with a 1-hour drive to Sayaché where you continue by boat along the Aguateca River. A short walk through the jungle to get to the archaeological site of Aguateca. Much archaeological work has been conducted here in recent years and you will see temples and palaces. Lunch, dinner and overnight in the Petexbatun lagoon.

  2. We leave the Petexbatun lagoon in the morning by boat and navigate on the La Pasion River to the Ceibal archaeological site. After a short walk through the jungle we arrive in Ceibal, known for its beautiful carved stone (stelas). In the afternoon we go back to Sayaché and take the bus for the transfer to Flores. Overnight in Flores.

  3. After a 2-hour drive we arrive at the Yaxhá lagoon. A short walk up to the highest temple in the area where we admire gorgeous views of the Yaxhá and Topoxté lagoons. Time to relax at the lagoon. In the afternoon transfer back to Flores for overnight.

  4. We visit the Mayan city of Tikal, undoubtedly the best example of classical Mayan culture. Presently, its buildings are hidden in the jungle and it is necessary to walk through dense vegetation in order to visit the Central Plaza with the Temple of the Great Jaguar, the Lost World and Temple IV. Afternoon transfer back to Flores (airport) or Hotel in Flores.

  1. Departure from Guatemala City toward the Caribbean. On the road we will visit the Quiriguá archaeological site where some of the best Mundo Maya stela are found. Mid-afternoon arrival to Río Dulce, an exceptionally rich ecological area, for overnight. Overnight at the Rio Dulce River.

  2. This morning, the adventure will take place on boat through one of our more prestigious natural beauties: Rio Dulce. We visit Livingston, a Garifuna community that can only be reached by water, time for lunch. In the afternoon boat ride back to the hotel for overnight.

  3. We drive to the Honduran border and arrive in Copan at lunch time. In the afternoon visit the Copan ruins. Copan is one of the most interesting Mayan sites and very famous for its glyph-stairs. Overnight in Copan Honduras.

  4. We drive you back to Guatemala City, or you continue to Honduras, where our friends from Honduras will take care of you.

  1. Departure from Guatemala City toward the Department of Quiche. Visit the Pocoman Site Mixco Viejo. This site was one of the few centers that were inhabited and in operation at the time of the Spanish conquest. In the afternoon we continue to Santa Cruz Quiche for overnight.

  2. Today we continue our drive to the Department of Alta Verapaz. During the civil war in Guatemala, this was the area of heaviest conflict between the guerrilla and the army. Today there are still only a few tourists that visit this area. Stop in Sacapulas where we can see how the people extract black salt using very rudimentary methods. Overnight close to Santa Cruz Verapaz or Coban.

  3. Beautiful day-trip to Semuc Champey (Series of small ponds and pools on a natural land bridge that crosses the Cahabon River). Time to swim in the crystal-clear pools. In the afternoon drive back to your hotel.

  4. On the way back to Guatemala City we will visit the Alta Verapaz Nursery with more then 20,000 Orchids and then will stop at the Biotopo del Quetzal where, if we are fortunate, see the Guatemalan national bird, the Quetzal.
